Cream Silk Transformations: Spotlight on the Modern Filipina

Gone are the days of the Maria Clara, as women are slowly climbing up the ranks and embracing bigger and better roles for themselves.

How can women cultivate success? How did some of the Philippine’s most powerful women  in fashion industry manage to progress in their careers while also enjoying life outside of work or maintaining a balance life? These are some of many questions I’ve been grappling with lately, thanks to a very exciting invitation to  Cream Silk Transformations: Spotlight on the #ModernFilipina. I was to hear some of Modern Filipina’s success stories.

Last January 23, Cream Silk, the Philippines’ No. 1 hair care brand, launched its newest campaign: Cream Silk Transformations: Spotlight on the #ModernFilipina.  Known for helping women go beyond beautiful, this year, Cream Silk champions Modern Filipinas, who strive to become the best versions of themselves, in their journeys of transformation.

“Gone are the days of the Maria Clara, as women are slowly climbing up the ranks and embracing bigger and better roles for themselves. Today, the modern Filipina has become both a spotlight and a beacon,” shared Gina Lorenzana, Unilever’s Vice President for Personal Care.“She has evolved into a fearless and trailblazing individual determined to realize her dreams and make a positive mark in the world.”

Cream Silk Transformations: Spotlight on the Modern Filipina was a whole day event that celebrated women, who have constantly challenged themselves to transform fromgood to great. Held at the World Trade Center Tent, Cream Silk collaborated with the country’s top magazines –Cosmopolitan, Meg, MEGA, Metro, Preview and Yes! – to empower the event attendees and equip them with everything they need as they kick off their own transformations.

My Clozette friends and I got the chance to chit-chat with the drop-dead gorgeous Editor-in-Chief of Cosmopolitan.Ph. She’s an epitome of Beauty. #NewGirlCrush HahaIMG_5333In celebrating the year of the Modern Filipina, each top glossy hosted workshops and talks, inviting some of the Philippines top industry experts in the fields of fashion, entertainment, and beauty. Each activity featured different kinds of transformation, from beauty and fashion makeovers to unleashing one’s inner potential. Through these, event attendees were empowered and equipped with everything they need to transform into Modern Filipinas.

At the Cream Silk lounge, guests completed the experience through hair transformations. To demonstrate that only Cream Silk can transform any hair problem to beyond beautiful hair, experts assessed hair needs, as well as recommended the best styles to highlight assets. Then, guests had their hair done in their style of choice to experience their very own Cream Silk transformation.

As a fitting and grand finale, the audience was treated to the first ever live cover shoot experience to unveil the new roster of Cream Silk Modern Filipinas. Cream Silk and the top magazines styled and photographed the newest endorsers on stage, in front of event attendees. Joining Heart Evangelista on the covers of the publications’ March issues are the country’s leading ladies Nadine Lustre, Coleen Garcia, Julie Anne San Jose, Rachelle Ann Go and Yassi Pressman, who have all embarked on their own journeys of transformations.

To add, to the already impressive line up, Cream Silk also welcomed home PiaWurtzbach, on her first Philippine appearance as Ms. Universe.Pia epitomizes the most inspiring transformation of the Modern Filipina yet,set to conquer the universe! With a beauty that inspires, determined to realize her dreams, she has come back to make her positive mark in the world, taking her well deserved walk at Cream Silk’s event.

As a modern Filipina, I strongly believe there is no limit to what WE can ACCOMPLISH. Great careers are no longer passed down or handed over. They must be seeded, tended and grown—and WE are the gardener. We women take our success into our own hands, when we take ownership of our  achievements, development and ambition, THERE is NOTHING that WE CAN’T DO. Always, remember our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail.
